please i'll be re-writing the SAT whenever the next date comes up and i would like to start preparing right now, i wont be able to buy any new books, but i already have 2 and would like to know how to achieve a maximum score with these books, the books are: KAPLAN 2010-2011 SAT HIGHER SCORE GUARANTEED and COLLEGE BOARD OFFICIAL SAT STUDY GUIDE SECOND EDITION.

with the above books, what study means, planout time focusing, e.t.c should i adopt to get a 2400 in the SAT from a 1430 score (wrote in jan....CR=4600, MATHS=500, WRITING=4700).

thank you very much in advance

i don’t think you can improve from 1430 to 2400… just my opinion

The blue book will be your key to improving your score as much as you can.

Do all the practice tests, time the sections as you do them, figure out how
To do the questions you get wrong or leave blank.

Use the other book to work on your vocabulary and do the best you can in June!

Take the blue book,if you totally workthrough that book[include every word’s meaning, every question].when you got them thoroughly, you will be ready for the coming SAT. [PS:i knew you won’t want any book…but…UMmmm,Kaplan is not the best…
] just KO the blue book, when you get it,you get all of them

Thank you very much and it might sound impossible to move up to 2400 but with your oppinions I hope I’ll achieve such score after conquering every aspect and inch of the blue book.

Nothing is impossible. Just know the test and practice. 2400 would be possible in 3-4 months of practice. In a week I’ll get my result and should have improved 700-800-900 points in a year, but didn’t use the whole year to practice.

Set realistic increments/benchmarks - try and move up 100 points at a time and don’t be discouraged if you don’t improve on every test because you will be learning and getting better with every question that you do/understand. With that said, I think you can raise your score a lot.

Do what CCer’s recommend: take whole BB tests and then thoroughly analyze every question that you got wrong or were even a bit unsure of. Check the online explanations. Practice - try and see all the possible concepts that the SAT tests.

For CR, do them untimed first and try to really understand the passage. I used Noitraiterp’s (stickied) guide and it helped a lot since I am not much of a reader. Took a lot of time before I could finish in the allotted 25 min but the guide gets you thinking about possible ways to improve. Use Direct Hits for vocab.

For writing, use silverturtle’s guide and do problems. For math, use a book like Gruber’s to review concepts that you haven’t used in a while. Do more sections.
