I just started prepping for the ACT and was wondering how many tests, on average, did you have to do before getting the hang of it?

Any strategies for the science other than skipping the passages? I feel like you're missing info. that way though...

For someone whose switching from the SAT, I can't get the ACT Reading done in time (need extra 5-7 mins) but can get the passages done... Do you suggest going back to the SAT?

Thanks!

The ACT is all about speed. There are ways to improve. I am not a very fast reader, but I am working on skimming quickly for the main ideas – the layout of the section – and then going to the questions. Just skipping directly to the questions does not work for me at all.
With all of that being said, the SAT is definitely a better test for some people. There is no formula for how many practice tests you need to take. Just try to ration them so that you don’t run out! I have taken 3 full-length practice tests so far and I am feeling much for comfortable with the format, if that helps you at all. Good luck!
Are you taking the ACT in April?

Gauge yourself by doing practice tests of both ACT and SAT and see which one you are better at. I have taken both and am decent which both of them, however, I prefer the ACT as it doesn’t try to trick you like the SAT does. Timing is the only enemy. So for reading, I skim the passage to get the main idea, then I answer the questions. For science, don’t read the passage, just skip to the questions and refer to the graphs mentioned in the questions. Thats how I do it.
