I’m an international student intending to apply US colleges. Currently, I’m preparing for SAT. In mock tests, I usually get 620 to 640 in reading&writing section. Still I feel that I can understand the reading passage clearly and most of the time I’m uncertain about my answer choice. One possible reason behind this is I’m not from an English curriculum but I’m desperate to overcome it. So, please some one give me some tips on improving my reading skill along with better understanding of the passage as a whole. It doesn’t have to be only practice test, you can give me any suggestion in this case.
Many US schools require international students whose curriculum is not taught in English to submit a TOEFL test score. Many of those schools have a minimum score you need to get in order to apply. While a higher score on the reading and writing portion of the SAT would be ideal, meeting the minimum score of the TOEFL is more important.
@Waly64 This is a great question – we recently covered this topic in a College Confidential article, which you can find here:https://insights.collegeconfidential.com/how-to-improve-reading-comprehension
Erica L. Meltzer’s “The Critical Reader : The Complete Guide to SAT Reading” is probably the best Reading-specific study guide.
