I took my first SAT recently, but the scores that I received were much weaker than what I wanted. I am planning on applying to Johns Hopkins. Their application deadline is January 1. If I take the January 26th SAT, will I be able to send in my new scores and have them considered, or will it be too late?

JH accepts the Jan test but you should mention you will be taking it in your application and you need to name JH in your test application as a college to automatically receive scores upon release, meaning as one of your free sends. That results in the fastest form of delivery.

Yes many top schools do accept the Jan SAT scores but do check on the official websites, or contact them to make the inquiry.

@drusba wouldn’t the collegeboard feature “rush reporting” result in the fastest delivery.
it comes at a cost of course, but i wanted to sent Jan scores too, and thought that this mode would be the fastest.

btw, how do we keep sending colleges our achievements/scores/E.C progress after deadlines? must we mention that we will be doing that, in the app, when we apply? if we don’t mention it beforehand won’t things be considered?

A rush order cannot be processed until after scores are released to you. When scores come out, many thousands are ordering them sent, including via rush orders, and thus processing time is slower than at other times and ordering rush does not result in the scores being sent much faster than ordering regular delivery. If you identify a college in your test application to receive scores, CBs typical practice is to actually deliver those scores into the particular college’s on-line account with CB one to two days before the scores are even released to you and thus it is the fastest form of delivery.

If you have things you want to send to supplement application file after applying, you should send them to the particular college’s office of admissions with a letter requesting that the information be included in your file. If it is something they will actually consider and a decision has not been made on you yet, it will be reviewed. Telling a college at time you apply that you will be sending such supplements later is not going to delay a final decision on your file unless it is something like Jan test scores and the school accepts such scores.
