Sat Retake?

New poster wondering if I should retake SAT

I got a 2260 last time (740 CR, 800 Math, 720 Writing). This is the debate I'm having in my head.

Retake side:
I got a 36 ACT composite and 231s on the PSAT both times. And I didn't study very hard in the lead up to the test, especially the grammar rules which I hear are the easiest to study up on. I can improve significantly, especially on the Reading where I got really good PSAT and ACT scores. And I don't foresee my scores dropping.

Don't retake scores:
The SAT doesn't let you pick the test to send in. So it's not worth scraping out a few extra points while at the same time putting at risk the "mystique" of the 800 Math. Then there's paying for it and studying for it instead of studying for the AP tests or writing scholarship essays or (gasp) living. And with a 3.7 GPA at a school where social promotion has created a school half full of 4.0s, and not so solid finances, do I really have a shot at Ivy's anyway?

Your thoughts?

what are ur EC's
grades alone don't get you into IVY's

You have a 36 ACT score? It doesn't get much better than that my friend.

Retake. SAT is viewed as much more significant in ivies (to which im assuming you are going to apply).

There is no need to retake the SAT as colleges will use your ACT score. Since you will likely need to take SAT II's, your SAT score will be reported and your M 800 not go unnoticed.

As far as ECs go I have debate and a whole mishmash of academic contests (scholar's bowl, academic decathlon, etc.) I'm very close to Eagle Scout but have never had time to finish it up. And my community service is a little lacking.
