Hey I just got my SAT scores monday, I'm a junior. I got an 1890--not what I was expecting but theres nothing I can do to change that. I was just wondering from experience how big of a differnece there is on average between your first score and subsequent tests, if any.

Also with that kind of SAT score and straight A's in AP and Honors classes w/ some ECs but not an amazing amount, any recommendations for colleges?

If you practice and with time it will go up. 175 psat as a junior, 1970 in june of junior year, 2160 as a senior in november, retaking in jan for the last time!

You should focus on bringing up your scores to match your grades to give you more options. I've had the same problem.

yea i had a good feeling i did get a solid 2000 i have no idea what happened but what would you recommend for practicing? do review books work? id really rather not take time to do a sat course unless tehy really help. my psat was 201 sophomore year ( i havent hearda bout this year yet) so im especially bummed

I just used the CB's blue book and took most of the practice tests. At school, during my free period, I would use the princeton review or kaplan books to do like one section for practice about once a week. I personally am opposed to courses, because I feel it's somewhat buying a score (colleges will probably think i spent lots of money raising my score, when I spent $40 on books), and personally I take pride in doing it myself. That's just me though! A course might be helpful so that u will study, but if u can study yourself, I recommend doing that by reading the books, analyzing ur practice tests, etc. Eventually, i think u'll notice stuff start to click on the practice tests and u will consistently score above xxx number.

Good luck, and don't worry too much cuz ur a junior and will naturally improve, but it's never too early to once in a while practice.
