Hi all,
I am an international student.
I have just recently received my December SAT score, and I found out I got much worse than I did back in October.
I have checked the list of colleges I am intended to apply, and I found two of them require applicants to send all scores. However, these two schools both have test optional policy for international students.
I am wondering if these two college will know if I only send in my October score. Does College Board actually inform those colleges that don’t allow score choice that the student is using this option?
I wish I can get a precise answer from experienced individual who has dealt with this case before.
Thank you very much!!
So, the test optional policy basically means you can send your SAT scores or none. Since, your two schools require that all scores be sent, your choice is sending ALL scores or sending none.
The score report (as far as i know) does show if you’re sending all your scores or only selected scores, so they will know if u only send your October score. Remember, SAT scores aren’t the sole factor in college admission decisions, so I wouldn’t be too worried about it.
Thank you rpanth1!! I have also done 2 Subject tests, which I intend to only send 1. These two colleges do not require any Subject Tests, but if I choose only to send 1, I am still using the Score choice option, which will appear the same on the report(if the college sees me using score choice)as if I am choosing one of my SAT 1 score. So how does the college differentiate that?
So, I think it really depends on the school. You should call the admissions office for both schools and ask about that, they’ll probably know the answer better than me.
From experience, (at least with Duke University) the rep who came to our school said that they have a specific rule/requirement. You can choose to send the ACT (no subject SATs) or ACT w/ all SAT scores, or just all SAT scores. So, for Duke, even if you only wanted to send subject SAT scores, we’re required to send the reg SAT scores + all subject scores too. Like they will request you to send the reg SAT scores, if you didn’t initially. Colleges that require you to send ALL scores, will definitely make sure that you send all scores, so there’s really no way to get around it, as far as I know.
All in all, I’m prettyyy sure even if you want to send one subject SAT, you still have to send all of them, including reg SAT. Just call the admissions office to clarify though!!
Okay Thanks!! Anyone else have anything helpful?
Does the Score Report state the number of time the student has taken the test? @rpanth1
@DVDplayer No, but if you only send one score. I thiiink it will say “Select scores sent” or something along only selected scores being sent and not all scores. If the school requires u to send all scores, they’ll have you resend the score report w/ all scores and then find out if you’ve taken it multiple times.
If the school allows score choice, I’m pretty sure they have no way of knowing that you took a test a certain number of times.
