<p>When I told people my SAT score I said, "1590, I guess I'll have to retake," but I was just joking. This guy took it a little too seriously.</p>
<p>midmo: you raise a valid point about the Pres. Scholar program. S1 was one of our state's nominees (we didn't even know there was such a thing) and when he heard that S2 got a 2380 on his first SAT sitting he immediately advised his brother to take it again. I was shocked (my response to S2 was that he was DONE) and if the 20 points due to a missed math question precludes him from that nomination, so be it. Our final consensus was not to retake as it might look like he is too much of a perfectionist. He hasn't done any amazing research or equivalent to actually become a Pres Scholar (his HS has one almost every year so we know what it takes) and a trip to DC isn't a big deal for him since we live so close. If I recall, one of the nicest parts of being a scholar is that the application requests that they name a teacher that has positively influenced them and the teacher goes with the student to DC to also be recognized for their mentorship.</p>
