I heard (I think in Matt's blog) that they make final descisions on those whose scores aren't in by the beginning of December. What about students who took the November SAT IIs? They should be reported around December 4th. They'll probably be filed and recieved by MIT close to the deadline. How will these students be evaluated? I'm pretty sure we're allowed to use the November exam for EA.

Yeah November scores are accepted for EA and don't need to be 'rushed'. How MIT handles the logistics is probably not of that much interest I guess. They receive scores electronically iirc..

If it's electronic, shouldn't it be instant (instead of 3-4wks)? Why would rush delivery be used (I'm pretty sure it's sent in priority mail 2-3 days).

At least for the GRE, ETS sends electronic scores to schools every few weeks in a big batch. Perhaps "rush" scores are sent before the next scheduled batch.

That would make sense.

Thanks molliebatmit -- you really are knowledgeable about the inner workings of the admission process!

Haha, I think it helps that I'm applying to grad school and hence am concerned about all these sorts of things too. :)
