a 750 is EXACTLY the same as an 800. That being said, a 700 is virtually the same as a 750. honestly, think about it. A fifty point difference translates into a difference of two or three correct answers. Why would the college care how many arithmetic sums you can get right on a saturday morning? dartmouth has your transcript and your recommendations. What could a fifty point difference tell them about you that would matter when it comes to how you'd be an asset to the school? Honestly I don't know or care about a single dartmouthians sat score, and i'd probably be shot if i did :-)

By your logic, a 650 is virtually the same as a 700 (who cares about 2 arithmetic problems, right?), which is virtually the same as a 750 and thus 800, and so a 600 is virtually the same as a 650, which is virtually the same as a 700 which is virtually the same as a 750 which equals 800, and so a 550...

The fact is, SAT scores do matter, and according to Michelle Hernandez, former admissions officer at Dartmouth and author of A is for Admission, they matter a lot because they're a component of your academic index.

That being said, the Motorcycle rally is absolutely amazing and with that you should have no problem gettting in, regardless of SAT score.

Motorcycle rally is amazing,, but thats as far as i will agree with you. A 750 is the same as an 800 because, on a curve, a 750 means you only got two or three questions wrong. The difference between a 750 and a 700 is larger ie you got 8 or 0 questions wrong. the increase in the difference in correctly answered questions increases as the scores get lower. That why a 550 isn't the same thing as an 800. But it seems a bit pointless (not to mention painful) to talk about sat scores when youre already in college, so please lets stop the debate right here?

it did take me three times... although TBH, i would have done better ont eh writing the first time if i had just done some work for it. I got 680 the first two times, but before the third I actually learnt the typical mistakes and managed to get a 780.
oh, and incase u hasn't noticed I am an international.

mildly relevant: on the first day of DOC trips, H-Croo directed a few icebreaker games, e.g. arranging ourselves in order w/o talking by age, birthday, region, etc. Then they asked us to do it in order of SAT scores, and nobody moved. H-Croo cheered and congratulated us.

ajay, my advice to you is to first focus on doing as well on the sats as you possibly can.

you should also not fall in love and be obsessed with one school because there is no guarantee it will work out and then youll only be left heartbroken.
