This November, I will be taking my SATs for the third and final time.....

Unfortunately, I have heard a rumor that's been going around........mainly something my parents keep saying:

"If you take the SAT Three times, then your scores get averaged out, and your score actually gets lower"

I don't believe that this is true, but I just wanted to confirm. Isn't the averaging thing after the third try: Meaning if you take it like a fourth time or something: or is it nonexistent....

Doesn’t exist unless you make yourself believe it exists.
Just pretend you’re taking the SAT for the first time and forget about your previous scores!
Also, preparing helps.. (usually)

Colleges say they look at your best scores–Harvard strengthens that to saying “ONLY your highest scores”–so the key idea is to gain the highest scores you can, without worrying too much about how many times you took the test.

What if you get a 760 on writing and then get a 620 the next time (I really do not know what happened. I am pretty much a grammar nazi). Would they average the two scores?

Read my lips: Scores are not averaged. If a school “superscores”, they will take the highest score from each section, regardless of sitting. If a school does not (like the UC’s), then they take the highest cumulative score from one sitting. But they are NOT averaged.
