SAT scores for Application to Brown University?

I am a junior who has been in love with Brown for almost 2 years now. I’ve been longing to go there since I was a freshman, and now I am planning on applying early decision this fall. I have yet to take a professional administered SAT test yet, but I have been taking a thorough amount of practice tests recently to set a baseline for myself, and I have been scoring consistently around 1450 (New SAT). I do have a bit of time for some improvement in my score, but my testing needs date is coming up fairly soon. If I score in this range or maybe slightly higher, will I have a decent shot a Brown this fall if I apply ED, if you look strictly at my scores? I know there are other factors that are important in admission as well, but as far as I can see this is my weakest area. Also, for reference, I’m a male middle class Hispanic student from the Northeast, and currently have a 4.0 uw GPA, and am ranked first in my class.

1500+ SAT would help.

1450 would be a very nice score for nearly every college, and would be fairly typical (though below average) at Brown. By a recent projection (http://www.■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■/college-profiles-new-sat/), Brown’s middle-range SAT would appear as 1440-1580.

Brown is a wonderful college and I wish you the best in terms of getting in. But it would be a huge mistake to pin all of your hopes and dreams on that one school. Brown has under a 10% acceptance rate and cannot take accept of the qualified applicants. I suggest that you expand your horizons and seek out other colleges that you would also be happy to attend if Brown doesn’t work out.
