Hi all ,

Dual degree programs are inherently more competitive than Wharton - you’re scrambling for the chance to earn TWO degrees instead of just one, after all - but as @SylvRsr said on your other topic, SAT scores are only one aspect of your application, and the app is made or broken by every component, not just scores.
@Sharecentury Yes they are definitely more competitive than wharton. I think last year for M&T there were almost 1000 applicants competing for 50 spots. I wouldn’t worry too much about your SAT scores. I understand the struggle but there is really no cut off score for those programs. Of course the higher the score the better, but it won’t determine whether you get accepted or rejected alone. I myself have mediocre SAT scores, but I have chosen to just forget about it since I can’t do anything about it. SAT is just one piece of your application. If the rest of your app is good you shouldn’t worry about your SAT scores. They will not be the sole determinant!
Dual degrees are more difficult to get into than any of the Penn undergraduate schools. I know that for LSM the average SAT is over 2310, which is well over the 2210+ general average. I don’t know for the other programs. You would also need serious demonstrated interest in the specific discipline of the program to have a good chance.
I think a good enough SAT score (2200) I guess, would put your foot in the door. What really would matter more is your EC’s (imo)
From 100 qualified applicants for the dual programs, they only pick 5 or 6. Not much room for any weakness. They are so many seemly perfect applicants, and people with hooks.
how about huntsman, it is less technicaltgan LSM
yes huntsman is the less rigorous one, and i even know a couple of people who have gotten in with 2210 and 2230 SAT and good but not spectacular GPAs. still they had amazing other things going on for them (great work experience, had lived around the world, one was also a legacy ). But all the LSM and M&T people i know are pretty much perfect or almost perfect.
would a 2180 be enough for huntsman?
“would a 2180 be enough for huntsman?”
I think a 2180 would give you a chance for huntsman, but there is a lot more to the application. How strong is your gpa? How strong are your language skills? What is your interest in international studies and business?
To me, Huntsman is just different from the other dual degree programs. If other aspects of your application are a good fit, then I don’t think that a marginal SAT score will be a significant barrier for the Adcom.
Coordinated dual degree programs ( Fischer M & T, LSM, and Huntsman) and special programs (NETS and DMD) have limited seats available, are demanding, and may require certain interests and skills sets. The additional application requirements are focused on selecting students who are the most capable of meeting those demands, and have the most aligned interests. The successful applicants that I know tend to be above average academically, have thoughtfully explained their interest in the program, and also have a demonstrated interest.
To me, asking which one is easier to get into is like asking whether it is easier to get into the NFL, the NBA, the NHL or MLB. The easiest one to get into for you is any one that you have the skill sets for and a demonstrated interest in. It is impossible to answer a question about which would be the easiest to get into without having a significant amount of information about the candidate.
thanks for your inputs
what about the AI one? Does anyone know about average stats for that program?
