The 700/700 may be …depending upon that season’s competition and USNA’s priorities … necessary. But not sufficient. As noted, there are benchmarks important (and often dynamic/in motion, i.e. simply because they worked LAST season doesn’t mean they will THIS or NEXT season. It is a moving target with many variables.

The complexity in this, especially for novice interested parties is as GoNavyXC rightly notes …and I’ll offer in a different way … there is an inclination to want to compare this process to, let’s say gaining admission to Princeton or Cornell. There are some comparable aspects, but on the whole, apples and oranges. And that can be very difficult to grasp. And watching it over many seasons does provide some implied insight, but so much of this goes on in seclusion without exposure or explanation. And for both the 3Qed and nominating processes.

So it is interesting working to scoop the process. In the end, none really can nor will.

I am not satisfied with my math score and I will be retaking the SAT two more times looking to improve upon it. Everything else in my application is to the best of my ability and I know that I have a well-rounded package with varsity athletics, executive officer of clubs, and class ranking. The only things I have that I have left to control are getting my math SAT higher, training for the CFA, and just maintaining my high standard of performance in my courses.

Thank you all for taking the time to respond, I appreciate your answers. They definitely helped me.

Just wanted to give an update. I received my May SAT scores and received 750 Reading, 740 Math, and 640 Writing. I am definitely happier with these scores but somewhat confused how my reading is more than my math because in school it is definitely the opposite haha.

From what I understand, USNA does not look at the writing score. Is that true?

I got a 690 in math and a 630 in reading and I received a LOA and BFE and i live near a naval base so i thought my area would be very competitive. So I would say, you should always try to improve if you can, but I think your scores are good. However, i think SATs aren’t really my forte, so other stuff that probably helped me is that I’m taking 6 AP classes senior year, I’ve already taken 5, and got all 4s and a 5 in BC Calc, I’m tennis captain, fccla president, and received both presidential and congressional nomination. So, you shouldn’t dwell too much on SAT, if you’re other areas are satisfied.
