My daughter got 1510 for sat 800 in math 710 in reading, 800 sat math II and 730 on Chemistry subject area test. took 5 AP class in junior year, and got four 4 and one 5 as AP score. This year talking 4 AP and one multi variable Calculus. Is her score good enough for apply ivies and top engineering schools?
Sure
Yes, they are in the range for Ivy League Schools. Please be aware that this is only one measure of selection. The vast majority of kids applying to Ivies will have those scores or higher. The chances for admission are sub 10%. For many top schools is is sub 5%. There are fantastic universities out there-- JHU, Carnegie Mellon,Georgia Tech. Explore more of them.
She did great and yes but as a parent who has a son who graduated from an Ivy and now have a daughter who is a junior is HS and is just as intelligent if not more, I am exploring other options for her. My son told me that if he had to start over again he would not have chosen that school. My daughter has a different personality and I am now looking for the right fit not the schools that have the most prestige, the most popularity, the “name”. I also think that sometimes we set our children up for disappointment and heartbreak and they come out of this process feeling like a failure if they didn’t get into an Ivy (i’ve seen it happen). Be open to other colleges. I agree with @waitinginnh22.
Thank you for all your help.
