On the June SAT IIs, I got a 760 on Math II and a 750 on Chemistry. From an Ivy League standpoint, would these be considered decent scores, or not so great scores? I don't know that I could actually get into an Ivy League school, but I'm just curious. If they aren't that great, should I retake them?

(If these are good scores even for Ivy League schools, I'm really sorry for asking. It's just that my friends get upset over 780s so...I kind of feel bad now ><)

I had a 620 in bio, 670 in US History, and 750 Math II and got accepted to numerous Ivy League schools. It’s all about the entire application, not test scores. BTW, I had no hooks.

My daughter’s school discouraged her from applying to ivies with an 800v/660m, and 760’s on three subject tests…plus outstanding extracurriculars–editor of paper, first cellist in orch., professional singing & numerous awards! Fact was, there were others in the class that had better ‘hooks’ (family connections/minority status/or just big donors) & the guidance office did what it could to discourage the others so it would be less complicated for them. We heard this from various people. My advice; don’t let anyone discourage you if you think you have a shot. the High schools (esp. private ones) can act as gatekeepers to a certain extent, but shouldn’t be allowed to. sometimes these colleges surprise you–they can see through to what they need to see through! Good Luck. & the fact is, Ivies are NOT the be all & end all, so even if you don’t get in, you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing you tried & will likely find a place right for you anyway…

If I don’t mind taking the time to study and retake them, is there really any downside to retaking them? Like would colleges think that I was just wasting my time…? I really think that I could get 800s on both if I really studied, but I’m not sure how worth it that would be.
