I’m currently a sophmore and I was wondering if if taking the SAT this May would be a good idea. My score is currently a 2000 flat. If I take the current SAT this year, I’ll be able to use the summer to study for the ACT and New SAT (which I heard will be similar) for junior year. Is this a good idea??

What is your goal score? If you’re far away and won’t have time to properly study, then why bother?
The new SAT doesn’t debut until March of your junior year, so you still have several opportunities to take the old SAT after this spring. (But the PSAT in October is the new PSAT.) I agree that since you have time, you should take it when you feel you can score well, which depends on the score you are aiming for. The registration date for May is still a ways off.
Yeah I’d be happy with a 2200+, though a score in the 2100s would suffice, as I’ll be taking the ACT and New Sat as well
