SAT Study tips/Ideas/help **ANYONE THAT TOOK 2014 SAT PLEASE BE OF HELP**

I take test on May 3rd.

Been doing practice tests each day, having family members be my proctors and give me assigned breaks like on the test and timing it and telling me when I have 5 minutes or so left.

So on practice on CB , a very old book that is 2007 when sister took it(Old I know).

This is what scaled score range was!

Critical Reading: 560-620
Math-460-520
Writing-510-640.

(Using the highest possible scores on range): Composite: 1780.

Before I kept getting 1300s-1500s. Maybe this practice test I took seemed a little easier or something idk.

Math I need to work on..matter fact all areas I want in 660-700 range at least.

I'm trying to go to Georgia Tech or University of Georgia.I really want to do good and go to a good school. I'm in love with education despite the flaws in the system and I just want to be the best I can be and be beneficial to helping society.

I want an 1850-1900+ At least.

Any ideas or things I can do?Though I heard people say CR is hard to improve, maybe it's just me but I know it can be easy for me to improve on it due to being a bookworm since first grade and reading 6 books a week. Longest book I ever read was Gone with the wind and it took me one full week to read it (when I was in like 7th grade). lol.

So maybe that helps to my advantage..lately I can say my grammar is kinda poor and I tend to be vague in my writings.I never was properly taught how to write.I was told to just write whatever and then turn it in.

Heck, I am a Junior and ashamed to admit I never knew what a THESIS was until sophomore year!

Enough with my blabbering.

I need tips, prep ideas, more practice links or resources and whatnot.

I also have this peterson's master the sat 2014 book.Should I use that?

I also have checked out this book called egghead's guide to geometry to re-study what I have forgotten.

Sorry for this long post. :)

Ty for any incoming feedback.

Do more problems, read silverturtle’s guide.

I’d suggest the Princeton Review. It really gave me a new perspective, and showed how the College Board comes up with choices to distract students from the correct answers. It’s their ‘Joe Bloggs’ approach, and it really, really helped me use POE.
It comes with several practice tests as well, but don’t feel obligated to do them over and over again, because you could just max out. I’d suggest 1-3 per week between now and your testing date.

Math is a very doable section once you start plugging the answer choices into the problem, instead of the other way around. PR talks about this too. This is especially a life saver when it comes to variable problems.

The reading sections are so up and down from one testing date to another that all you can do is practice. Always skim the passage first (30 seconds or less), then read the questions, and finally go back and read the text.
Don’t get bogged down in all the vocabulary; it’s just not realistic. If you read often you should do fine. I didn’t study at all for the vocabulary - yes, I missed two vocab questions, but I still got an 800 in Reading. Remember to pick your battles.

Without knowing your specific strengths and weaknesses, it’s hard to say exactly what else you could be doing. Continue with your self-studying (definitely get the Princeton Review) and see how you do in May. You could always consider a prep class over the summer before taking it again.

Good luck!

Wow…You really need to get your scores up because the scores you have now are the scores I have a current freshman

I admire your determination. I believe you can score 700’s once you discover the right approach. Here are some tips I know will help you.
1.
2. Study “McGraw Hill’s Nailing the SAT math” and solve every question in the entire book. (this will get your math scores to the higher 600’s and low 700s)
3. Study the book called “SAT Nova Prep Course” for the CR section.
4.Study the vocabulary section (chpt 3) of McGraw HIll’s SAT 2010 to build a strong vocabulary; study a vocab lesson every day- each vocab lesson has a group of words that are used in a particular context-and review each unit after a week
5. Study “Gruber’s SAT Writing” book to increase your grammar knowledge.
6. Solve all the practice tests in these books, taking note of your mistakes and the concept being tested for in each question.

(ii) Explore The New SAT by Moha92 1st Ed
(iii) 6 SAT Tests from Collegeboard’s Online Course
(iv) McGraw-Hill’s 12 SAT Practice Tests with PSAT, 2ed
(v) Fiske’s Nailing the SAT ( this book has got difficult SAT probs)

Here are some aspects of the math section that may prevent you from scoring 800 on math:

 1. Counting problems
 2. Difficult probability problems
 3. Identification of simple patterns from complicated story problems.
 4. Distances in cubes and prisms

Remember it is only practice that can help you discover your weak areas and working on these areas is what will help you score high on the SAT once you’ve mastered the content.

Once you’ve completed everything, relax and chill; You will obliterate the SAT…
