*SAT Subject Test Biology E/M June 2016 Discussion Thread*

Yeah the other one was tube 2 and 4 I don’t remember the other one

Does anyone know what #99 was? The one that asked for how something in the student’s breath affected the acidity or something? It might have been #100. I don’t remember.

It was tube 5,7? or something I can’t remember either.

If it asked for an indicator that CO2 made the solution acidic, then that would be the bromothymol blue tubes with acid and with CO2.

can someone explain to me why the active site thing is not the answer

@comeonmrtan the active site isn’t the answer because if all of the active sides were filled the the amount of product would have been increasing over the whole time however at the end the amount of product being produced was not growing therefore there was no substrate that could be converted in the product

im really confused about the question that talks about the neuron-motor cell question…is it a chemical transmission or a electrical transmission?

its chemical

i found this test to be so hard…i got a 750 and 800 on barron’s practice test so i thought this would be easy but I barely finished and I guessed on like 10 questions…is it just me?

you are not alone @Seventeencarat … I scored a 710 and 740 on Barron’s… a lot of these questions were worded weirdly and ugh it was time consuming too, i probably overthought most of the problems and probably will retest, don’t have a good feeling about this

I also thought this was a relatively difficult test compared to previous biology SATs. I’ve gotten 2 wrong so far and I’m aiming for an 800; what do people think the curve will be here? Because if the curve is -2 for an 800 then that really puts me on edge…

if u get 7 wrong and skip 2 could u still get above a 750

i’m not sure if I should cancel my score or not…i think I didn’t even get 700 this time. how low will the curve probably be?

curve is usually -3/-4 for 800 -12 for 750 and -19/-20 for 700 but by the looks of it I think the curve is going to be more generous considering the difficulty

i literally walked out thinking i got a 800 and it turned out i actually got 7 wrong so

I hope the curve is more generous…what did everyone think about the test? that will give me a better idea about the curve.

i completely failed it T0T

@nytestguy i thought it wasnt that bad at first but it turns out i got a lot wrong… i feel like some questions (like the bell curve one) were kinda vague and ambiguous

@lunarboy I certainly hope so. As far as I know I haven’t gotten anything wrong besides two certain questions, but there’s a good chance I made a silly mistake somewhere else. If the curve is -4, then there’s a pretty decent chance I got an 800.

There was one question that I’d like to ask about: the enzymes of the Calvin cycle in nonphotosynthetic bacteria and archaea. My answer was that plants today use Calvin cycle enzymes for nonphotosynthetic functions. Anyone else?

@lunarboy what were the choices
