I'm taking the SAT Chemistry Subject Test on December 4th and was wondering if you guys have any tips. If you've already taken it, or if you're taking it, how did you prepare? What concepts did you focus on the most when preparing?

Is the Chemistry Subject Test usually difficult?

Hmmm… i used Barron’s SAT Subject Test Chemistry book… it helped me get 800! Best of luck!!

I got a 760, and I used Barron’s as well as some of Princeton Review. I wish I hadn’t waited until the week before to start studying, and I hope you didn’t make this mistake :P

Anyways, I take IB Chemistry, which seems to be more theoretical in nature, whereas AP Chemistry focuses more on calculation-type problems (or so I’ve heard). Perhaps that’s why SAT Chem is a non-calculator test. I’d say just concentrate on your weaknesses, do the practice tests, and make sure you understand the basic aspects covered in each topic.

There really isn’t much you can do now, you only have a couple days. I think as long as you take some sort of advanced chem class in school, you should do reasonably well. Good luck!
