SAT Subject Test Competitive Scores

Hi everyone, I just took the SAT Bio E test and am expecting around a 760, but I was hoping for a 770/780. I will be a junior next fall so this is the only subject test I have taken so far. I am aiming for ivy league schools like Harvard when I apply for college. Is this score not good enough? I’m planning on taking World History and Math 2 and hope to get an 800 on both.

My question is: should I cancel my bio score and just take the test again in August? I think I’ll definitely be able to get in the 780/800 range if I take it then, but the problem is if its worth it or not. Will it make much of a difference in my college app? The difference between a 750/760 vs. a 780/800?

I wouldn’t worry that much about a 760 on any SAT subject test. Any score above 750 is competitive and getting a 760 on a science test as a sophomore is a great achievement.

Focus on the regular SAT and your GPA. Most competitive schools don’t require submitting subject scores, although the tests are ‘recommended.’

For subject test scores, you don’t really need to get very high score. Some schools do publish their subject test mid 50s. For instance, science subject test scores for MIT admission has a mid 50 of 740-800. So even for MIT caliber, your score of 760 is not bad.

The question is premature since you literally finished the test 2 minutes ago. You may be surprised and score a 770. Regardless, the difference between a 760 and a 780 will not be the difference between acceptance and rejection at any college.

Subject tests are not too important in college apps. You have more important things to do.

760 is just fine.
