Hey, while looking through the Collegeboard website I stumbled upon the "SAT Subject Tests". Can anyone explain to me what is the purpose/importance of this? And how can it help me in my college admission?

Like all standardized tests, it determines our human worth to colleges.

So, is it worth doing it?

it depends on where ur applying. some colleges require it, some recommend it, some wont take it.

OK. I wouldn't be applying to the "HYPS" schools since they are very expensive for international students, and little financial aids are given.

Currently (public) school with excellent geoscience departments from this list interest me. Worth doing for them? (I'm considering Math and Physics subject tests)

And thank you Kevin! You've been a great help.

hey U of Minnesota! thats my home town school yaya. U of M doesn't require nor take any subject tests. I dont really know about the other schools. Cornell, if u want to go into engineering u will need a science and a math.

The public schools on that list are also top schools ranked with private schools in many other fields too. If you have your eyes on those schools, definitely take them.
