I was wondering how optional the SAT subject tests are for Williams? I’ve taken a bunch and my scores are strong, but they’re not on par with the acceptances I’ve seen. (Highest: 770 US history, 750 World history, 710 Biology) Would it look strange if I only submitted one score? I also noticed that Williams doesn’t mention them at all on their website, so I wondering if I just shouldn’t submit any with my application. Thoughts?
Since Williams recently dropped SAT subject tests last year from their requirements and don’t mention them any more on their admissions page, this is a question for the Admissions Office. Contact your regional rep directly.
In this case, I think optional does mean optional. Having said that, your scores are very fine scores. I see no reason not to submit them.
I’m also a believer in sending either zero or two (or more than 2 depending), Submitting one, in my mind, looks as though the applicant is trying to hide a score (which, of course, is what you are suggesting).
Thank you all for the input… still debating whether or not I should submit my biology score, 710, especially since I’m considering biology and environmental science as a major. If I didn’t submit it, my two SAT IIs would be both history, which is problematic, and if I did, coupled with my 4 on the AP environmental exam, it might harm me? I can’t decide
It depends on how the subject tests provide context for your other stats (SATs, GPA, high school reputation, course load), it does not sound like the subject tests would either help or hurt, so why not include?
