I am planning on taking a SAT Subject Test in math this November and am trying to decide which (if not both) to take. Do colleges prefer one over the other? I completed Algebra 2 and Trigonometry last year and am taking Pre-Calculus this semester.
I took Math 2 last year and got a 800. I recommend strong knowledge of precal. Just in case do a practice test online and if u don’t feel strong enough then just do math 1.
It depends on whether or not you plan to apply to an engineering or math based program. Some of them, like caltech and Carnegie Mellon require math leve II. Others, like MIT, don’t care. Check the specific requirements by googling the names of the colleges you’re interested in + standardized test requirements.
The material on level 1 is easier, the curve on level 2 is much more forgiving.
It’s much easier to get 800 on level 2. I got 800 and in level 1 I got 790 with only one mistake
Why not take practice tests on both tests and see how you do? If you do substantially better on Math Level 1, then take Math Level 1. If you do similarly, take Level 2.
Math Level 2 is the easier test if you have covered the material well in school.
