SAT Subject Tests - Need a Humanities Test?

Hello, everyone!

I've been struggling with this for a couple weeks now, so I decided to ask on CC, haha.

Do students typically take SAT Subject Tests in both the math/sciences AND the humanities? In particular, should math/engineering/science majors take at least one humanities subject test to appear more well rounded?

I was initially not planning to take a humanities test, but many people at school have told me to take one even though I plan to go into science and say that oftentimes colleges require at least one humanities test. I have taken Bio E, Math II, and Chem, and scored well on all three and am planning to go into science. My goals are the Ivies (excepting Brown) or Amherst/Williams.

Could anyone give me advice on whether or not to take a humanities test?

Thanks :)!

(Oh, and I am looking into either Lit or USH. Not in APUSH so it's much harder for me; in APLit but the Lit curve is so much worse.)

It is a good idea, but not required. It really depends on where you are applying. SAT Subject Matter test are only a part of the application. If you take two, you are fine. If you are STEM, you should take Math2 and a science. You can take a humanities for a third if you want to show the admission folks you are well rounded, JMHO.
