SAT Subject Tests.. (SAT II)

I'm currently a Junior in HS and was wondering why I don't hear much of them in school. I am taking the SAT in Jan. and that's what everybody's focused on but how important are SST's?
Do most colleges across the nation look for SAT scores along with SAT II scores?

Should I take at least one subject test before the end of my junior year? How many should I take for eligibility for private institutions, the Ivy League?

Many colleges, both public and private, only look for SAT/ACT scores and not subject test scores. Most of the more selective colleges do require one or more subject tests, however. For the Ivy League, you should take two. Georgetown is the only school that requires above two subject tests (three), but many people take more for better scores to show off, to show more diversity in their knowledge, or just for the hell of it.

The subject tests generally aren’t very important in admissions unless you get low scores on them compared to the competitive portion of the applicant pool. Comparatively low scores for Ivy League schools and those of similar selectivity would probably be below 700 or 750. Above one of those marks (which mark depends on who you’re talking to), the scores are generally considered equivalent (or at least an MIT admissions officer said that MIT’s admissions process considers them equivalent).

Alright, thank you for the intel.
