Hey guys (my first post). I took the ACT and I'm considering taking subject tests (probably Math II and History) but alot of schools don't require it. I know that Emory says they recommend it in the Fiske Guide and I think Cornell wants to see it. However, a lot of other schools I'm interested in don't need them such as UMich. Does anyone know which schools it pays to take Subject Tests along with the ACT or if anyone got into top schools that aren't ivies (except for Cornell and Dartmouth perhaps) if they took subject tests with the act.

Check the list above. There are a dozen or so schools require SAT2 disregarding you submit ACT or SAT. Even a competitive school only recommends instead of requires it, you should take it as required to get an edge ahead of others.
For UMich, it will consider the SAT2 scores for the good of the student. In addition, many schools will consider the SAT2 scores when they are comparing candidates for merit aids with similar GPA/scores. You know the difference between the top of top students are usually small.
