Would it be worth it to take SAT Subject Tests if applying to Oxford? I want to apply for Oxford Scholars, and since I excel in both US History and literature, I thought it might be a good idea to take those subject tests. I don't want to take them, though, if they won't make a difference; I'm also applying to Mercer, which I just found out wouldn't consider the test at all if I sent my scores.

Also, I made a 5 on my APUSH test this spring, and I'll most likely make a 5 on both the AP Lang and Lit tests.

Oxford College does not require SAT IIs, while Emory College says they “are encouraged but are not required”.

Given that you intend to apply as an Oxford Scholar, I think anything you can do that shows academic promise would be helpful to you.

Personally, I think APs are more persuasive than SAT IIs - but then there is that EC statement (above).
I also think the grading on SAT IIs is pretty easy, so a 700 there would be of less weight than it would on a SAT I test.

If you are going to apply to both OC and EC, I’d say definitely submit.
If it’s just OC I think you have something to consider.

I can’t see you getting Oxford Scholars without the Subject Tests. I’m almost certain your competition will have them. And, if you’re getting 5’s, it’s really a no-brainer.
