I already took one Sat subject test and I wanted to take two more. I am planning on taking Math level 2 and either world history or U.S. History. At my school, they don't offer a.p. classes for any type of history, so I was wondering if I bought a prep book for one of the tests would all the information be covered or would a class be necessary to receive a good score?

While an AP class would probably be excellent prep for an SAT subject test, the test really don’t go that far into detail. They test you on high school level material, so if you’ve had a world history (honors would be best) or U.S. history class, you should be fine with some extra help from a review book. As for math 2, I haven’t taken it, but the SAT I math portion can be kind of tricky when it comes to analysis, so If you’ve taken up to maybe Algebra II, I would say to practice a little every day just to keep those skills sharp.

for us history, a review book really helps, but any class should get you on track. it doesn’t test on much detail, as shadowfre says. math level 2 covers up to precal/trig

Which would be easier to study for? Do you think that maybe it would be U.S. History because it probably covers less?

While U.S. history covers a smaller area, whorl history may be easier to study for just because it doesn’t really cover as much depth. I haven’t taken a high school level history course, so I don’t know about the depth in those courses. I definitely suggest taking a histpry subject test that you’ve gone through the class for. It’s much better to use a review book for a class that you took even 2 or 3 years ago than to try to learn it all from the book.
