SAT Subject Tests?

Hey guys, I’m a rising senior and I kind of have a problem. See, nobody ever really told me much about out of state uni things; my counselor seems to focus on in-state schools. I only recently found out that many out-of-state schools require that I have a few subject tests, and I’ve taken none because I was told that admissions officers rarely look at it, so it’s unnecessary (which I guess is for in-state schools). So, I now have basically one shot at taking my subject tests and getting decent scores. Does anyone have any suggestions for what would be a good (can easily self study over the summer) subject test to take? I’m taking IB HL Chemistry right now but I’m not sure how difficult the subject tests would be. I also just finished IB SL Spanish, AP Lit, and IB SL Math if that helps anybody. Thank you!

Take Literature + Math 2. The Literature test really requires no extra studying if you are already famliar with the SAT Critical Reading section. Also, if you are comfortable with Spanish, check out the syllabus and if it overlaps with your current studies, take that one also (all on the same day). That way, you can send your 2 best results to schools that require 2 tests (and use score choice). Good luck.

Thank you!

Note that what you take may depend on the major that you will be seeking. Colleges that require or recommend subject tests sometimes require or recommend certain tests for particular majors. For example, it is typical for such colleges to require or recommend math and a science if applying for an engineering major and possibly a science major. Some want a math if applying for business. Some recommend that one be in a subject close to your desired major, e.g., one in history if applying for history. In other words, before deciding what to take do your research first as to the particular colleges you are considering.

Definitely take Math 1 or 2, depending on your math level
