Hi ...this may be a dumb question but....do schools only take your SAT scores when submitted by college board. The high school has official copies with your transcripts too, right? Do you have to pay college board for each school or will most schools take the scores off the transcript from your high school??

Unfortunately, yes, but you do get 4 free score reports when you sign up to take the SAT. Of course, my daughter decided to wait to see what her scores were before sending them anywhere, so we missed the free score opportunity…

But if you’re applying to the average of 9 or so schools, the most you’ll spend is $99 on score reports, still cheap in comparison to the cost of actually applying to those schools, let alone paying the tuition!

Vast majority of colleges now require you to have an official report sent by the College Board. However, there are still a number of schools that accept the score from your high school transcript but that is a continuously shrinking number as the trend in the last 12 years has been for more and more colleges that accepted just the transcript to switch to requiring the official report from CB while none have switched from requiring the CB report to accepting just the transcript. Check the rules for each particular college to determine what is necessary; they will tell you if transcript is sufficient in the admissions section of their site where they discuss the test scores required.
