SAT supposed to be higher than PSAT? Mine isn't

I heard the PSAT is harder than the SAT, and you're supposed to make a huge jump. All my friends have also made huge leaps from the PSAT to the SAT. I had (From frosh to junior) 201, 221, 229, but ended up with a 2260 on the SAT. I might add that my friend, with a 230, got a 2390 on a different test. I'm almost positive I could do better, but feel a little miffed. Should the PSAT be any indication of your SAT? Take it again maybe?

i never really heard ur supposed to make a big jump from ur PSAT to SAT.. i usual see people do better on the PSATs..but since every test is different its hard to really tell..plus on the PSATs there is no essay factored in.. so that can affect your score..

yea exactly...actually the PSAT is usually a bit easier easier overall...but people ususally do better only cause of the year difference..(like for example maybe somebody would do better in math as a sopho then a fresh cause he took an advanced Math Course)...

but if u think you can do better then yea go for it take it again..and see what happens.............if u think ur gonna screw up..dont bother..lol

The SAT is more difficult than the PSAT. It's not a huge jump but there is a difference.

yeah usually people do worse on SATs. i myself am an exception but whatever, i hate the PSAT

SAT is much, much, harder. PSAT=Joke.

haha gumball I thought the PSAT was really hard! the math on the PSAT seemed harder to me than SAT math, and the CR section was similarly evil. I did tons better on the actual thing

Really? You may have had a bad day, really. The PSAT does not cover advanced stuff, such as functions, complicated word problems...whereas the SAT does.

lol i did bad on both junior and sophomore PSATs. i think the SAT has a nicer curve or something. well, not true. i missed a total of one question on the SAT ^_^

I had trouble witht he PSAT since i did not take it seriously enough. that is the only reason for my low 213. Did not know you could get scholarships and ****.

i scored 210 on the psat and then took a prep course at my high school, might have messed me up, but whatever happened, i scored a 2040 on the real thing, so it's not just you

I read in some book (Barron's?) that 1/3 of students go down in score after the PSAT while 2/3 goes up.

dang unlucky of me

The PSAT is supposed to predict your SAT score within +/- 30 points or so in each section. Your scores are within range.. I'd add a caveat though, because the writing section of the PSAT doesn't require an essay, predictions aren't nearly as accurate. My son went down 110 points from an 800 to a 690 because he choked on the essay portion of the writing section.
