SAT three Times Rule?

I took the SAT in 7th grade for the DUKE TIP program and then I also took it in ninth grade to get a benchmark so I would know where I was. I then heard from a camp counselor that taking the SAT more than three times meant the score got averaged. Is this true? Also, what can I do (just take it once in Junior year?)

No, its not true. Take the SAT as many times as you need to. Its jut that after the 3rd time its unlikely you will improve.

And the 7th and 9th grade don't count...

i believe that it depends on schools

7th grade definitely won't count and 9th might. No school is know to average grades. Most use the highest composite while some use the highest score achieved in a single sitting.

Even if the 9th grade would count, it sholdn't stop her from taking SATs again if she needs to.

The 7th grade one definitely doesn't count, but when I went to a college panel they all said that it looks bad if you took it more than twice.

7th grade doesn't matter.
But if you took once old SAT, once new... does that already count as twice? Gosh, I know SATs are important, but I just registered for it on a whim... I don't think my timing during the school year was good.

Colleges will not see the 7th grade one. They will see the 9th grade; some will consider it, some won't. However the three times rule isn't some solid must not break rule. If you take it 3 times, and then improve 200 points when you take it a 4th time, it is definitely worth it to take it the 4th time.
