I took an average US History class last year, and this year (Jan) I am taking the SAT II US HIS test... For any former test takers or people studying for it now, how content based is it? How in-depth is it? Thanks if you can leave a few comments.

My daughter took an average course and studied with Real SAT II , Kaplan and and a history outline book-- she scored 690. People here say Spark notes is best prep. It's a more detailed test with many fairly "random" fact questions--not so much in depth but covers lots of ground from Columbus to Clinton. Probably easier for those who did AP US history.

I'm finishing up my honors US History II (Post Civil War-Now), and it is kind of hard to be honest. I remember a lot of stuff, but some I did in the beginning of last year, and it is hard to remember exact provisions of say the Declaration of Independence or the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. So as I am going through these practice books I got from the library to refresh my memory, I seem to be doing a lot better. If you took a month or two to spend a little each day reading one of the review books (princeton review seems good, and sparknotes too), I think anyone can do OK. It does seem to be a challenge to get 700+ however which is what I am shooting for.
