I have about a month to review US History (which I took last year at school) to take the subject test in October. When I get back to school, I probably won't have much time to review everything, so really, I have to make good use of these last 30 days of summer break.

I read from the forum that AMSCO is a good prep book for APUSH, and I'm just going to assume that it's a good book for the SAT as well.

But since the book is 600 pages, I'm barely going to have the time to read through it thoroughly by early September. I'm sort of in a dilemma. I'm aiming for a 750+ score,
but I don't know if I should read through the book quickly the first time, and just read it again, hoping to retain as much information as possible.

Or, I could take the limited time I have to create a condensed study guide (aka take notes) as I read through, but just read it through once and hope I made a good enough study guide. I'll just have to review and memorize the study guide.

What do you suggest?
