SAT vs ACT math

I have not gotten my march scores back yet, but I think I got about 2-3 wrong/omitted. That will be like a 750. Do you think I would be able to get maybe a 33-34/36 on ACT math with the same ease?

The ACT math is different as it also covers pre-calculus. Wait until you actually get your scores and then you can start playing the guessing game. ACT inc offers a conversion chart for ACT to SAT on their website.

I know about the conversion chart, but that is based off of percentile. Not actual difficulty of the test. I am positive I am over 700 and after discussing 40 or so of the math questions on the SAT prep forum. I am just asking is it just as easy to do well on one as it is the other? How similar are they. I will be nearly finished pre-calc by the time I take the ACT.

It’s really hard to judge what your scores will be based on that. Sometimes you make a careless error or the curve isn’t what you expected. If you think you got -2 or -3 it could be lower than 750 easily (I omitted 1 in Jan and got a 760). Alternatively, it may be a hard test or maybe you actually got the guesses right and you score higher. Just be patient.

The ACT covers much more material and is shorter so it is harder to do well, but math is usually pretty black and white and straightforward so with enough preparation you will do well.

EITHER WAY, my practices were between 710 and 790, so assume I did. Can you please just give me some info.

Well I did far better on the ACT (33 vs a horrible 630), but I’m not super strong at math (especially geometry) to begin with. The precalc stuff is really focused though so if you get a review book it explains the few areas that can be tested. (On the last one it was just modifying a sine function).

There is no other info we can give you… You know the expected percentiles, and you think you know what you got on the SAT.

If you are getting in the 700s on all practices, then a 33 or higher will be possible. Just practice and check your work. Make sure you understand how to do every type of problem.

Thanks. I just got the 20 dollar ACT online review so I could get a feel for the questions. Other than that I am hoping my SAT prep will help me on my ACT.
