SAT/ACT math??

On my SAT i got a 670 and then on my ACT i got a 35 for the math section. (My math section on my SAT was my worst, my math section on my ACT was my best.) Has anyone else found something like this to happen. It's kind of strange?

wow, that's cool. i hope something like that happens to me when i take the act. lol

Same here. 700 math, 35 ACT math.. strange..

I had a 33 vs. a 760...so I guess mine are pretty comparable. I actually found the ACT more difficult.

800 sat and 33 act. hmm...

Yeah mine was like Eugene's but I felt ACT was definitely harder

I felt that the ACT's was harder, too. 740 SAT but 31 ACT

What does this mean?? I thought the ACT math was the easiest thing I've ever taken. How do I do better on SAT math?? lol

act math has more advanced concepts, such as formulas conic sections. also, the curve is brutal.

sat math as generally easy math, but they use tricky word-problems. Beware of words like: not, only, besides, other than, not including, except, etc.

hmm... act math does not have conic sections

800 and 36. there is no curve is there? SAT is generaly reasoning math. ACT is testing what you know. Also, if you have no testing endurance, you'll find the ACT math section (and science) to be a major pain. In fact, you will get sloppy and thats maybe where u messed up. :) I really don't know. But I do agree ACT math is more difficult. SAT math is easier to get a low grade because some of the problems are so easy that you make lots and lots of careless mistakes.

i did a bit better on act math than i did on new sat math (35 act and 710/730 new sat), but my old sat math was similar (780 old sat).

I think ACT math is more stuff you learn in school. The test has more of a time crunch, so you're penalized for stupid mistakes. The SAT (at least the old one), on the other hand, tests your ability to understand what the question is asking and apply "tricks" or at least use reasoning to figure out the problem. This is coming from someone who scored a 35 on ACT math and 800 on SAT math, so my viewpoint may be skewed more toward the SAT.

Hmm I see what you mean. The ACT is more math you learn in school whereas SAT is reasoning/tricky qs. No wonder I did better on the ACT. I always make at least a couple stupid mistakes on the SAT bc of their tricky wording and leave a few blank bc the questions trick me. I think ACT is fairer in that sense bc they are testing what you know, not your ability to avoid tricks and reason well. Just an opinion though, and obviously its biased bc I did a WHOLE lot better on the ACT math.

720, 36

the act math is a lot easier
