I know I've been told over and over that GPA is looked upon more heavily then the SAT in the admissions process (is this true?) Probably because the SAT is a one shot test, while your GPA accumulates over the years. High GPA/low SAT applicants are more likely to get in over low GPA/high SAT applicants, correct? (Which is bad for me...)

Is anyone veritable proof of that? Or can you disprove it (personal exp?)

Is it also true that universities/colleges are weighting the SAT less and less in the admissions process? And that sometime in the near future they may stop requiring SATs alltogether?

I am unsure if they would STOP requiring SAT in the future, but I am sure they weigh GPA more than SAT!

According to my high school, colleges look at the difficulty of the classes that you take. Then they look at SAT, followed by GPA. But thats what I heard, I don't know for sure. I think a few AP's with high scores, a 2100+ and a high GPA will give you good chances, unless you're going for a school like Stanford or Yale.

Your transcript definitely takes precedence over SAT scores, but GPA is so variable that they look at it in the context of your school/classes/etc.

Personally, a friend of mine and me both take similar if not practically the same courses with one varying class if that. However he destroyed me on the SAT's while my GPA killed his. I ended up getting into all of my reaches, and he did fair, but not as well as he most likely should have done. So, from this experience, I would say overall your GPA ranks as being more important since this represents more of your endurance and stamina over a four year period compared to a 4/5 hour test.
