So a during the summer I took a couple of practice tests (I think 4 ish) and consistently got around 770s on the writing with low 700s on the other two. Now that those two are up to almost 800s, my SAT Writing has gone down to low low 700s or high 600s. This is the only thing stopping me from getting a 2300+. I don’t know what happened but (I am using the Blue Book) the writing sections in the later tests seems harder than the earlier ones. It that just me, or is it the tests. It has been awhile since I actually did grammar practice, and when i was doing so well, it was right after reading the erica meltzer sat writing section. SHould i just go over that again.
Sometimes the Blue Book can cause you to perform better on the practice tests rather than the actual test, and sometimes you end up doing better on the actual SAT than the Blue Book. It’s actually common. The best suggestion is to just keep practicing. Make sure to thoroughly check over your answers from the practice tests in the Blue Book, and understand where you went wrong when you get an answer wrong. You could score highly in the practice tests, but you won’t learn anything if you don’t review and learn from your mistakes. Keep taking practice tests, review your answers and mistakes, and reread the Erica Meltzer SAT writing section- this will likely increase your score by some.
