From looking at prior posts and the admissions web site, it seems clear that UVA does consider the writing section of the SAT. Does anyone know if it is given the same weight as the math and verbal sections -- or is evaluated differently?

I know there was some debate when the writing section was first put in place as to whether schools would use (or give full weight) to it, but the most recent articles I have seen suggest it may be the most predictive of success in college.

The writing section has been around for quite some time now. It is, essentially, a new version of the old SAT 2 in Writing. I’m not quite sure why people still treat it as a mysterious component.

We don’t have “weight” in our review process. All three sections of the SAT are important.

Thanks. It seems like William and Mary still treats it differently (stating that they “place more emphasis” on the other sections), so I just wondered if UVA did anything similar. I appreciate the response.
