My daughter just got back her recent ACT score and got a 36 composite score. She is scheduled to take the SAT on Oct 6…is there anything to be gained from taking the test or should she just go w her ACT score?
For the purposes of the Princeton application? No. Although it won’t matter for Princeton, she may want/need to take the SAT for National Merit Finalist purposes.
I can’t believe I’m reading this. Princeton accepts both tests, and for the purpose of admissions, it will not look particularly better if an applicant gets a 1600 just to go along with their 36. A 36 is good enough (frankly higher than 75th percentile so really good) so, there is absolutely no point in taking the SAT. It is just a waste of time, and if your daughter has extra time, she might want to study for a subject test (if she hasn’t taken them yet).
With that being said, congratulations on the 36 and good luck!
Note: Some colleges require you to report all the test scores … even if the score is not good.
Can’t get better than 36. Why chance getting a lower equivalent SAT score? Your daughter doesn’t have anything to gain by taking SAT especially since it’s SAT OR ACT at Princeton. No need to take both.
Unless she needs a confirmation score for NMF, I wouldn’t take anything else.
