the mid range is 1370-1540. I got 1350. I heard that the larger the gap in the mid range, the less emphasis on SAT at the Uni - is that true? below 1370 is about 400 kids per year of the incoming class so it will mostly be URMs and athletes. Someone posted in another thread that 50 % of the class participates in intercolegiate athletics at Pton. sounds a bit high. What do you guys think about the emphasis on the SAT at Pton? is it really that high?

Do club sports count as intercollegiate? Because they do play other schools.

i think they do zant. they just arent varsity level and they are higher than intramural

Yea so that makes sense for 50%.

I'm not sure what the relationship between sat range and how much school cares about scores is, but pton didn't hesitate to admit people in the 1300s.

yeah. I hope so. But are most of those admitted athletes? Im in Int'l transferred three schools in my three years in H.S, across 2 different countries - never got a chance to get MVP, state levels etc., so will they still recruit me if im a Varsity soccer player and JV coach?

You can contact them and see if they'll recruit you. From what I've seen though they tend to take more recruited athletes early so you might have a better shot RD.

yeah that mighht be a good idea. the only prob is how they would know that im not making it all up.

any more opinions about the SAT midrange gap + recruiting?

I was recruited to Princeton for crew. My SATs were 1480 and 720/770/760 Chem/Math2/Writing.

With recruiting, each team has an athletic index that it has to meet. The AI is put together thru a formula incorporating your SATs and your GPA. So there are such things as academic recruits who are used to pull up the AI of the recruited class.

While I'm a midrange oarsmen, I helped the AI on the higher end. Schools like Yale are willing to stretch their power to get kids in with as low as high 1200s, thus they never get all their recruits thru admission. Princeton's not like that.

hm. i wish we had rowing at my school. or at least in my state. haha yeah right. if i dont play varsity then i'll play lots of club/intramurals. anybody else?

"thus they never get all their recruits thru admission. Princeton's not like that."

I'm confused as to what you mean by that - on the girl's side, there were 4 girls who were recruited who were deferred.

callthecops, often they ask you to send a video of you playing your sport to they get to see your skill level. because you intl, its probably harder for them to scout, so i think contacting them would definitely be a good idea. coaches are usually really open.

with all ivies, athletics helps but you still have to be qualified to be admitted. girls that were recruited with me, 6 applied, 3 were admitted, 3 were deferred, so it all just depends

video, cool! im a defense player in soccer - then i can send the one in where i broke the striker's leg by slide tackling him from behind ;) mwahahaha. btw. i actually have a video like that...no kidding....

lol call the cops, that would definitely show combativity

callthecops, you have to be careful with what you send to the coach. There are NCAA restrictions on what they can and cannot see you do. Coaches are very open and will tell you all about the rules, so you should just ask them first.

For example, on recruiting visits, they are not allowed to watch you compete or perform your sport. They may only watch you compete for your high school team at specific games/races/ etc.

the season at my school is gonna start only in april, so my decision will be out before any games start. any suggestions then?

1) Send a video
2) Have your coach call/contact the school and write a letter to the coach on your behalf
3) Let the coach see your brag sheet. What awards in your sport have you won? Let them see your list of accomplishments. The coach will also want a summary of your academic accomplishments (test scores and grades). Coaches are very accessible and friendly.
4) Ask the coach what he would like to see. Do you play the sport outside of school for perhaps a club? Club sports coaches have also written recommendations.

hey i was wondering if anyone could answer this question for me........my friend is really really smart (A average with good rank) with SAT scores that aren't exactly what seems to be ivy league......she's also a black belt in karate and has been doing it for a really long time.......i've never heard of a school having them b4 but I told her to see if she can be recruited for karate anyways cause SAT's don't matter as much when u have a sport.
do ivies have "martial arts sports teams"?.......
