SATII for bio, chem, and physics

How do three subject tests (titles) differ from AP ones? After this year, I'll have finished 2 years of biology and 2 years of chemistry (I'm taking physics on upcoming senior year). My school doesn't teach toward subject test or AP level but because it's a rural area school, I want to make sure that I'm prepared for all three subjects. So I might just prepare subject tests on my own and take them because everyone says that AP is so much more difficult for science. Anyway, what is the difference? Like how is the score ranged and do subject tests really benefit you?

Thanks!

For Chemistry, the SAT II is much easier. If you're prepared for AP Chem, then the SAT II will be a breeze.

For bio, the AP is harder but the two are definitely comparable. Both require quite an extensive knowledge of biological principles. The AP is harder because it requires essays. Being prepared for AP bio does not necessarily mean the SAT II will be easy. Make sure to prep well for this test.

I can't answer Qs about physics because I took neither the SAT II nor the AP. But just some general info on the AP/SAT IIs... APs are scored from 1 to 5, and SAT IIs from 200 to 800. Subject tests do benefit you if you're planning to apply to colleges that consider them in admission... most private schools (and many public too) require a minimum of two SAT IIs, some require three.
