sats and snow

if it snows out this saturday in my area, do i still have to take the sats?

Where do you live? different areas tolerate different amounts of snow.

of course, it wouldn't be quite fair to those of us in sunny (read: rainy and hail-y) CA for you guys to have extra prep time. XD

well i live in central VA, in richmond va. we'er expecting a good snow storm this weekend. maybe even enough to stick and make it hard. now i'm going all the way downtown so i mean? is it possible?

The head of College Board walked ten miles each way to school and back- uphill both ways- in 5 feet of snow. THE SAT WILL GO ON!

We had this experience a couple of years ago. The forecast called for a huge snow. We called College Board and they said that individual schools made the determination as to whether to remain open and give the test that day (in part based on whether they'd have enough proctors); "rain dates" are scheduled for schools that close. The snow came as expected and most of the schools in the area closed; my D's school remained opened and she completed the test (albeit with soaking wet feet!). A number of other schools in the area scheduled re-takes down the road. I can't remember the lag time but think it was somewhere between 4-8 weeks later. The College Board website posts the re-take dates and locations. (They've definitely had experience with snowstorm interruptions.) No dull moments, huh?!?

Hey, I've had experience with delayed SATs because of snow. Last year I was signed up for the Nov (? i think it was Nov...it might have been early December, though) date (I dont remember the exact date) but due to snow it was canceled. A few days later College Board sent me a letter saying that they rescheduled the test (at the same location) for about two or three weeks later. I was given the choice of whether I would like to take the SAT at the rescheduled date (which I did, and it was around the end of Dec), or take the January administration of the test. If it snows, I would advise you to go to the school anyway (if possible) and find out what's happening, or usually they'll announce it on local tv stations or radio (they did for me). hope that helps!

Do they administer the same test on the rain date as the actual date?

bump vump frump
