whats a good SAT score to submit for admission to west point?

~2200
~33 Act

should I be too worried with a 28 on the ACT even though it is in the majority 50% range? I got screwed up on the registration deadline for april due to there being a 2 week delay for snow, and I'll be gone for the june test due to SLS. So my next test date isn't until october and I would like to be in the running for an LOA. I have alot of other stuff to make up for it I think, just a little worried.

tn48th: I got a 28 on my ACT and I got an LOA. However, I almost aced the CFA, and I have been a successful athlete and leader in my school. My Admissions officer said that my test scores were sub par, but everything else was good enough to get an LOA. I feel that my situation proved that USMA is looking for the all around person. You don't have to be the brightest candidate as long as you can prove yourself in the other 2 areas: physical fitness and leadership.

i got an loa in sept with a 2100, 710M,710V,680W.

it was ok, but i had other good stuff, but most importent, i want to be in the army. i think that helps a lot.

Who doesn't want to be in the army on this board? (besides parents obviously) Do you just say that in your interviews and on your resumes, that you are really interested in a career in the Army?

lol thread jack ironjohn? Sorry just trying to figure out the connection between your post and SAT / ACT scores.

I think they already assume your interested in the army and career in military when you apply for USMA, they just want to know why.

you would be surprised at who wants to serve and who wants to just get a good education...

on the essays and interviews, i basically talked about how i want to be an armor officer. if i did not get into west point, i would go rotc or ocs, or enlist and be an nco, anything with leadership, thats true. wp liked what i had to say, and I guess we both agree that i am a pretty good match. you know, i am smart enough to graduate. that is all that matters really. just getting in the army with potential for a career. that makes everyone happy.

oh yah... the why part is always hard to answer, i relate back to the fact that many of the asdults who influenced me were in the military and it has a potential for an exciting lifestyle, with discipline

thread jack? Well yes, but I didn't really feel like making a thread about it because, well just because. Unless someone thinks otherwise? Should I make a thread on it? Anyone else feel free to steal it and start one as well.

lol no worries, maybe we should start a more official thread detailing exactly why some of us want to attend USMA or any service academy. I would start it but I wouldn't want people thinking I was just trying to get essay help or something.

I believe there may already be a thread like that but it was from the parents perspective as to why they thought their children wanted to go.

SAT scores are flexible in the sense that, since WP looks at you as a whole candidate, if you have strong ECs and strong GPA or strong leadership and strong physical scores then your SATs can suffer a bit. I got in with a 1980.. it really depends on your other stats as well.

I agree with WP2010. I only got 660 on math and 630 on verbal. However, I also have a 3.93 GPA with 5 AP classes. In addition, I play football and lacrosse, and I'm one of the lacrosse captains. Club wise, I am a peer mediator. I went to SLS last june, and did well enough on the CFA there that I was at "no risk" of file termination because of physical shape. Also, my father is a graduate, and is currently serving in Iraq. I recieved my offer of admission the last few days of February.

Not one thing matters the most, be it SATs or CFA performance. You do not to do perfect on SATs if you are well rounded.

landsy,

Congratulations on your appointment!

Thank you. Doing mountains of paperwork finally paid off.

Better get used to it. There will be lots more paperwork in your future. :)

Landsy I'm offended, I did well on my SAT's and I'm well rounded. There are such things as athletic, involved, nerds.

^True, I know some, and strive to become one.

Mumford do not take my post out of context. I was merely explaining that you do not have to do extremely well on everything to get into west point "be it SATs or CFA performance." If you do well that's great, more power to you, but if you do not feel like you scored in the top tier on the academic or physical stuff do not fret over it because there are many other factors in which you can make up in.

I got an LOA in September with 2020 on my SATs (1340 old scale).

Hehe, and I am an athletic, involved, nerd.
