My 83-year-old mother has no plans to be vaccinated and is flying to Florida today for her first great grandchild’s first birthday. She is “sorry” I’m still a prisoner of this overblown “situation” and finds it sad I’m not going with her. I’m sad that I fear our relationship will not be the same once this over.

Learned a new word in the wee hours of the morning - costochondritis. Sure beats the alternatives out there.
But maybe now it will also be easier to get H considering his diet and exercise.
Have to wonder at the doctor’s words right before he came in for the discharge after seeing another patient… “It will surprise me if it’s not Covid. I guess it could be the flu, but I doubt it.” I really, really, really hope the other patient’s germs weren’t on the doctor or in the same air. H is showering now. I’ll shower right after him. We need to return to FIL’s in a week. Just couldn’t take the chance after hearing, “______, I’m really concerned. I have this pain that won’t go away…”
A reminder that “Say it here” still needs to comply with ToS. You should assume that every mod reads the news and it will be the rare user that can make a political post that is not obvious despite how that user tries to veil it.

Ya know, if you want to quote from a previous post, it doesn’t need to be the entire post. You can edit to focus on just the relevant wording.
This is a freaking hassle when the rest of us now have to scroll and scroll to get to your comment.
And a little more annoying when you’re quoting from a post just ahead of yours, plainly visible.

Around lunchtime I am sitting in my house and I hear what sounds like a gunshot, followed by somebody screaming. So, I go to check outside my door (before I call 911) and it is a neighbor with fireworks and hooting and hollering outside for the inauguration. They have no idea how close I came to calling the police!

Utah Jazz owner awarding a 4 year scholarship to the under represented for each win. Very nice gesture. They have been reaching out to universities around the country to partner with to make this happen. Interested to hear more of how this works out.

I can’t help but smile when I think of what you’re in for. You, who never lost a minute’s sleep when you had newborns and toddlers 16-18 years ago because you felt you were too important to help with the childcare…you, who wanted a carefree retirement and tons of travel…you, who insisted on only dating women at least 15 (and sometimes 30!) years younger than you after your (second) divorce…you, who have never been a hands-on parent for more than two days a week and did none of the disciplining not once throughout the years not ever…you are now having an “oops!” baby with a girlfriend while you are in your late 50s. You have absolutely no idea what’s in store because you didn’t go through it the first time around…you adamantly refused and were never there. So here’s to your lack of sleep and your lack of carefree travel and all the things that will be so so difficult because newborns and toddlers are HARD (wonderful…but HARD).
Does that make me evil for being amused at this…? Nah. I think it’s just karma about to bite you in the butt. I hope the kid is healthy and has a great life and I wish the kid nothing but happiness…Seriously. BUT I also hope he keeps you up every single minute of the night for the next five years (to make up for all those years when you refused to help with your earlier kids) and is hell on wheels as a teenager (you know, when you are in your SEVENTIES).

When I ask you if you like the (not inexpensive) thing we got you for Christmas, I want a true answer. Finding it shoved in the back of your closet after you move back to campus and after the return date for the item is INFURIATING!
