This wind storm destroying my favorite olive tree and knocking down most of my fence just feels like the end of the world somehow. What a way to get the day started.

So no matter how many times people try to tell you their freshmen had good experiences on their college campus this fall, you continue to cling to the notion that everyone must have been miserable and unhappy, and wished they had taken the gap year. Why are you so invested in that false narrative? Do you realize how it makes you look, or are you just that self-absorbed it never occurs to you?

I have a new obsession and it is watching the stats on percentage vaccinated both nationwide and in my state on the WaPo website morning & evening. I am so anxious to get my vaccine!

No, the Harvard lawsuit data and resulting analyses can not be applied (again and again and again) to many broader college admissions practices and trends.

2" of snow and of course, we lose power yet again. Sigh. Good thing I get to go to work, right? Nothing like drying oneā€™s hair in your cubbie. The outlet in the bathroom is broken.

The state Senate Majority Leader said of the Governorā€™s address: ā€œWhen I saw her on the screen with her mask off - and I said, she looked delightful, and I meant it ā€¦ā€ Itā€™s clear to me that misogyny is alive and well. So very sad (and unacceptable). This isnā€™t a political issue. Itā€™s an issue of whether or not women in power are treated equally.

Google, since you want to know what I want/donā€™t want in my Google feed, add a box I can check off saying I donā€™t care to read any article or blog that starts - or ends - with the author heaping praise on themselves, not even if itā€™s humble bragging. They think theyā€™re so smart (or whatever), but I sure donā€™t. Hide those articles.

So glad I have a different life perspective. What a dumb thing to whine about.

Itā€™s just crazy how much difficulty we are having communicating recently. And getting a bit worrisome. :worried:

Please please please let it happen by March 31st.

My nieceā€™s 4 year old, who had a blood clot on his brainstem that ruptured when he was two days old, has seizure activity that showed up on his latest 24-hour EEG as ā€œspikes which slowed the software almost down to a standstill.ā€ Life is so unfair.

Sorry, I have no respect for the ā€˜line jumpersā€™. They just donā€™t give a darn that they are taking the spot of someone older who is more at risk.

The next two weeks are going to be really intense.

And please, Mr. Homeowner-who-I-am-trying-not-to-call-an-idiot, please pay us! Your payment is 18 days overdue. We donā€™t care that you processed the bill online two weeks ago (when the bill was already overdue and we contacted you). Something is obviously screwed up and we need a check. You will be surprised a few months from now when you call with questions during construction and we refuse to help you.

Sometimes standards & expectations can be too high.

For example: The current National Prep School Wrestling Tournament Champion team had 6 first place finishers & 5 second place finishers out of 14 weight classes. Only the 6 first place finishers were pictured in the schoolā€™s quarterly magazine which included full team pictures for all other Winter sports.

Two wrestlers who also won National Prep School Wrestling All-American status finished in 5th & 6th place in their respective weight classes. I wonder whether or not they will be permitted to return.

Stop making excuses why we shouldnā€™t be getting vaccinated. Do the right thing for yourself and most importantly, for the community you live inā€¦

To the ā€œgentlemanā€ in the car traveling in the opposite direction last night-I was flashing my headlights at you as I saw you pull out of the parking lot without your lights on. I didnā€™t want you to still be without lights when you enter the darker street up ahead. As we were both at a stop light, I flicked my lights a few more times, hoping you go the message. Didnā€™t expect to see you roll your window down as I approached you, waving your fist and yelling. I just hope you or someone else were not involved in an accident on your travels. Maybe light flashing it not a thing anymore.

I am so tired of people who donā€™t realize how hypocritical they are. They claim to be so ā€œcarefulā€ during COVID and make fun of anti-maskers or restaurants not complying with current regulations.

But then I see on social media SO MANY of them having drinks together in someoneā€™s house. Or at a restaurant. Or celebrating a birthday. Sure I WOULD LOVE to be doing those things too, but the point is, we arenā€™t supposed to be! I feel like the only one playing by the rules.

I just ate a giant serving of pad thai and I do not feel guilty. Mr. stuffed himself with tasty cashew chicken. The restaurant owner seemed to be happy that I was not a third party app person but just a former customer craving Thai food. The margins on those $10 plates of food are pretty slim. I bought enough to have leftovers for a while. Sad to see the place where we used to grab a quick lunch with coworkers so deserted.
