Do you think anybody would have the nerve to wear that dress for a church wedding?
I’ve often wondered when someone tries it on where they will be getting married.

My girls and I are hooked. We love that show! None are close (as far as I know) to being engaged but they have learned a lot and we have had some great conversations about weddings. Fortunately for me, they are all pragmatists!
I can’t believe how far some brides will travel to get a dress in NY.
I thought the show where the bride was from the Jersey shore and the mother kept saying the dresses there were no better than down in Jersey - haha. They left empty handed.
I loved the episode with the Italian father who told the alteration manager what was “wrong” with his daughter’s dress when they went for alterations. It was made wrong!
He was a little scary, though.
Claudia was indeed let go. She simply could not close a sale.

While there seem to be a lot of Jewish and Italian brides - really there is a great variety. Older brides, large brides, a bride in a wheelchair (that was touching), a gothc bride who got a surprisingly pretty dress with black trim, a Wiccan bride who was going to attach fairy wings - even a lesbian bride.

OK-- pleading ignorance again. When is it on,and on what station?

My D’s yoga teacher was on the show and wore that dress. Giustina Rossi.

I believe that’s the yoga teacher’s dad. Bride with long blonde hair, dad with lots of hair.

It’s on TLC, usually new episodes are Friday nights 9 or 10 pm…check TLC’s schedule cause I think they repeat episodes from the past at various times during the week. If you’re lucky, you can catch a marathon day and then get nothing else done!!!

I too know the stripper dress well and have thought the same thing…someone would actually wear that in a church?!

I hear ya. I know the Orthodox Jewish girls buy a little wrap to cover the shoulders (and we know the travesty that the mom of 19 made of her dress). But other than that, goodness, some are so reavealing. It always amazes me when the really really buxom ladies choose the dresses where they’re about to fall out…isn’t that yet another significant thing for them to worry about on their wedding day?

It took a while, but the show has really grown on me. It’s the one show the girls and I watch that Husband simply can’t comprehend.

I adore Randy.

One problem, however, is that my Ds watch this show and are absorbing the “price points.” A person who comes in with “only” $3000 to spend sounds cheap to them. Yikes!

Can someone link to a pic of the stripper fairy dress? As I said, I haven’t gotten to see it a lot.

resisting urge to go to Hulu now

zoosermom - that is the one!! He knew what he was talking about!

Did anyone see the episode with Michelle Duggar picking out a dress for her wedding vow renewal? they brought all the kids!

stripper fairy dress - shudder

We (D & I) love it, too. Love Randy; I love Keisha while D loves Audrey. It’s interesting to see how different bridal gowns can be!

D also hates how brides are pressured to “buy up” from their budget. Remember, ladies, you’re wearing it for what, 6 hours?? D’s already told me that she will tell any consultant, “Bring me a dress that’s over my budget, unless you already have a discounted price, and I’m walking out.” Gotta love that kid! Of course, we’ll see if that holds when it’s really her turn to buy.

Yes, Kleinfeld’s consultants (as well as most bridal consultants at salons, not sure about those in department stores) work on commission. That’s why I really hate those who come in with no intention of buying - remember the bride who found something wrong with every dress, because she’d found one for $100 that she liked? As far as I’m concerned, doing that to someone who works on commission is like stealing, taking up her time and preventing her from making a sale.

I cannot remember the last time I was at a wedding in which the bride and/or the bridesmaids were not wearing strapless dresses. In contrast, my D says my wedding and bridesmaid dresses looked like something from “Little House on the Prairie” – with long full sleeves and high necks. (You can guess the year/era.)

Of course, I cannot remember the last wedding I attended in which the bride and groom were not already living together (and, in many cases, already had a kid together). Weddings have certainly changed.

Thanks, abasket! So I guess THe Learning Channel, with shows (or former shows) like John&Kate +8 and this show, offers lots of different forms of education!

I know. I feel so sorry for the consultants when they get the browsers. But what’s a bride to do? Some girls have never even tried on such a formal dress, can’t tell a $1000 dress from a $9000 dress, don’t know what style looks good on them, don’t know that they style they’ve dreamed of is unbearably uncomfortable, etc. I can see where it would be nice to try on a few dresses before getting to the buying stage.

Of course, my own wedding dress shopping trip ended in tears. My engagement was only 2 1/2 months long, so when the bridal shop found out that there was so little time, they wouldn’t even permit me to try any on!!!

Oops, sorry, my bad - Hulu sends you off to TLC, and TLC only has 3-5 min clips, not the entire episodes. I wonder where DD watched that full episode online

hides face

I just watched three of them!

That’s very different than just going in “for the heck of it” or just as a lark. There’s always the chance that, after a few more browsing trips at other stores, the bride will return to buy. That’s a legitimate shopping trip; one never promises to find the dress there just because she comes into the shop.

^^ I agree, Chedva. I’d think in many cases an hour and a half appointment isn’t long enough to make a several thousand dollar decision.

I’ve seen them all! D and I got hooked last fall when she was home with mono. We critique every bridal gown we see - on TV, in movies, in ads. Luckily we haven’t been to a real wedding in a while!

We love Keisha, Sarah, Audrey and Randy too. Who was the consultant who wasn’t cutting it, but thought her poor performance was everyone else’s fault?

I wanted to slap the bride who brought in all of her sorority sisters so she could play dress-up and they could giggle and rate the gowns. On another show, I wanted to smack the sisters (real sisters this time) who kept making snarky comments and insulting the bride. “You should get a plain one, just like you.” I sure hope she didn’t have those b****es as bridesmaids.

Claudia. They finally canned her.

I saw an episode with a new consultant who has recently moved from somewhere else. Is that Claudia? Atractive brunette with shortish hair. I saw two episodes with her, and I don’t think she made a sale on the shows I watched. She had to get help from someone to get a bride out of her dress; they thought they might have to cut her out. Is that Claudia?

I’ve got your stripper fairy dress right here (you’ll know it when you see it):
[Pnina Tornai at Kleinfeld Bridal | Wedding Dresses | Search Results](http://www.kleinfeldbridal.com/search-wedding-dresses-by-Pnina-Tornai.cfm?pid=51&page=3)

I’m guessing there’s some kind of “relationship” between Tornai and Kleinfeld. I’ve seen her on the show several times. And isn’t the stripper fairy dress shown in the opening credits? The only other designer I can recall on the program is Austin Scarlett.

Are you all getting ads for bridal dresses along the left side of your screen? I know that is not uncommon these days but I still find it a little creepy.
