ATX is famous for being laid-back primarily because 78% of us are pot-smoking liberal hippies. The rest are transfers from other cities. =P

Ahahhaha, are there liberal hippies that don't smoke pot? ;)

Yea you're right; It might give them the wrong idea. There could be some way to go about it though.

Me! But that's because I don't have the spare time to take it up. Plus, I'm somewhat high-stress and not as relaxed as my fellow Austinites. And less of a hippie, more of a socialist, so...

=P

Collegehopefull - Actually, if you've had to go beyond the limits of the public school curriculum and resources available in a lower-income, rural setting, that's worth some points in Harvard admissions (and probably Yale too, since I've seen you on that board). I recall reading an interview with Dean Fitzsimmons a couple years ago in which he said that H was late in embracing the fact that talent emerges from resource-poor settings as well as resource-rich ones, and in the process lost the opportunity to claim a portion of resource-poor talent as alumni. A lot of his legacy at H has been devoted to fixing that situation.

Hooray! Well.....I'm not so much resource poor as I live in a resource poor area. (financially/educationally)

Either way, I'm happy about it. Hooray for Dean Fitzsimmons!

Actually, that's OK. Since ethical schools are need-blind, financial aid doesn't share their financial data with Admissions. For socio-economic insight, Admissions may note the profile of your zip code.

I didn't apply for financial aid, I don't need it. - I'm 18, and I can take out loans. (I wonder if you can still get an officer's commission through ROTC if you refuse the tuition, probably)

You guys should try Baltimore sometime. It's an interesting place to grow up in. The crime here is unimaginable. But I love this place. But it's scary. But I love it. =)

or broken rocks in pittsburgh. that place is too intense.

No one but Butternut is going to jump on the facebook/AIM bandwagon I've put together?

No one?

I even have AIM listed on my profile...no excuse not to, guys!

Think of it this way: If we all go to the same school, you'll have friends there already!

And if we don't all go to the same school, you'll have friends anyway!

She's going to Cambridge. At least, I sincerely hope she does.

We are so not talking about Emma Watson....Get on the game, Rubber!

I had to go back and read 4 pages to figure out what Indianrubber was talking about...

Oh. Sorry.

O_O

And you call yourself a Harvard applicant.

(Just kidding!)

actually this recent interview i ran into sounds like she's waiting for regular decision results to come out: Emma: I love the Baftas | Metro.co.uk

Can't...hold back...tears...

Edit: Ahaha. Excellent coincidence.
