I just submitted my stanford app from common app - but it says 1/2/10 instead of 1/1/10! Please help! I submitted at 11:30PM EST.

I submitted as mail, like the thread under said.

Ya, I’m right there with you. According to their website, it says 1/1/10 at midnight pst. I live in Texas so I counted on the extra two hours. Will ours not be counted on time now or will they see a time stamp?

Same here – I assumed it was going by Pacific time. ?

ok i think we are safe. common app says in the instructions:

All time stamps are in Eastern Time. Deadlines are also listed in Eastern Time. Schools located in other time zones may accept your documents up until the posted deadline in their local time zone, even though your submission time stamp will be recorded in Eastern Time.

Can you show me? This is highly disturbing to me. Any actual proof would be a serious lifesaver.

Breathe a sigh of relief! Apparently, this is pretty common if you search old threads:

From an email with commonapp:

All application deadlines are as of 11:59pm on the stated deadline day. The Common Application records all dates (deadlines, form submission dates, payment dates) in Eastern Time. Schools not located in the eastern time zone may choose to extend their application deadlines to the end of a deadline day in their local time zone or may accept your documents up until the posted deadline in their local time zone (even though your submission time stamp will be recorded in Eastern Time). For example, a school located in California may accept your application until 2:59am eastern time, which is equivalent to 11:59pm pacific time. Since this is on a school-by-school basis and this is not information that is available to you, we recommend you submit based on the Eastern Time deadline. Most colleges will accept the submission if it is within a reasonable time period around their deadline.

don’t worry it’s legit. go to ‘instructions’ and then click on ‘deadline’.

But will they record the actual time? It only says 1/02/10, not what time, so how would Stanford confirm that it wasn’t like 10 hrs later, and it was actually like 11:30PM PST?

‘your submission time stamp will be recorded in Eastern Time’, so yes, Stanford will know exactly when you sent in your app.
